(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Tuesday, October 16, at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by neighborhood leaders and senior living officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of Creekside, a residential community for older residents adjacent of the existing Ingleside Rock Creek facility. Once completed, Creekside will add 105 new independent living residences and 22 assisted living residences to the Ingleside Rock Creek campus. The facility will also include a health center and a variety of wellness activities.
Over the course of two years, Mayor Bower has remained committed to providing inclusivity and accessibility to Washingtonians of all ages. Since launching the Age-Friendly DC initiative in 2015, the Bowser Administration has helped seniors with home modifications and security camera installations through the Safe at Home program; recognized 43 local businesses as Age-Friendly Businesses; launched the Alternative Pathways to Employment Program to refresh the job skills of 50+ year old residents and placed program graduates in the workforce; and provided “Senior$afe” training to financial securities firm personnel on how to spot and report financial exploitation of older residents. Whether families have been here five minutes or five generations, and if residents are starting a career or retiring from one, the best place to be is #ObviouslyDC.
